- Rite of Christian Initiation
for Catholics (RCIA)
-
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, which is
better known as RCIA, is a process designed for three
different groups of people: (1) adults who are not
baptized and would like to join the Catholic Church, (2)
adults who were baptized as children into the Catholic
faith, but who have not completed their initiation in
the Church because they have not celebrated their First
Holy Communion and/or Sacrament of Confirmation, and (3)
adults who have been validly baptized in another
Christian denomination and who now want to be received
in the Catholic Church. If you are interested in
learning more about this process, please call the Parish

The Catholic Bishop’s of the United States clarified
youth ministry in their publication
"A Vision by saying “Youth Ministry is the response of
the Christian community to the needs of young people,
and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with the
larger community.”
Youth Ministry engages in a number of activities. Some
of which are spiritual, such as prayer services and
retreats. Some are social, like dances and lock-ins.
Other activities are service oriented, such as the
Souper-Bowl for Caring or visiting our elderly
parishioners during the holidays in their homes or
nursing homes. The
youth of St. Joseph Parish are invited to come and join
in the effort to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ
and learn to live out a life filled with joy! Just as
the song says, "We are many parts, we are all one body…"
so too is our Youth Ministry. It is called Uniontown
Catholic Youth Ministry. We have youth from St. John the
Evangelist, St. Mary, St Theresa and St. Joseph
Parishes. Youth ministry focus is for junior high youth
in grades 6-8 and high school youth in grades 9-12. Come
be a part of this exciting ministry for young people!
The U.C.Y.M., offers the EDGE program for junior high
school youth and the LIFE TEEN program for high school
youth. It takes many volunteer leaders to make a
thriving and successful youth ministry possible. Adults:
please consider joining our Youth Ministry by becoming
a Youth Ministry Catechist or volunteer. For more
information please contact Gilbert McNie, Director of
Uniontown Catholic Youth Ministry. 724-550-4104. Email:
